The proprietor’s decision to locate the whisky distillery in the historic core of Mare Island was due to the island’s fascinating history and the plethora of enormous yet stunning brownstone buildings. Opened in 2018 Savage and Cooke offers tours and tastings as well as Blanchard's famous fried chicken and southern sides with curated craft cocktails. This is a creation from Dave Finey, a respected wine-maker in Napa. The whiskey is infused in wine barrels before bottling. Very high end distillery worth checking out in Mare Island - an old navy base currently in the process of gentrification.
