This fantastic little spot is popular with locals who enjoy taking their dogs for walks or basking in the sun for the afternoon. Glencairn beach is also a great spot for whale watching in season and the resident shark spotters keep visitors up to date with the activity in the water. Enjoy a long stroll on the beach or simply enjoy the serenity the beach offers. Children will enjoy their time here to when they investigate the living creatures in the shallow tidal pool. Facing in an easterly directed, the sun will set behind you, so not the best spot to admire the setting sun. A perfect spot for the early birds to watch the sunrise however!

Glencairn Beach is a small stretch of beach, with a tidal pool for safer swimming.

This is a wonderful beach to take a swim and walk the dog. It's pretty sheltered most of the time and really safe to swim at. There are no life guards, so please take care when swimming here. It's generally uncrowded too - which makes it nice. Generally we tip the car-guard R5 when we leave, but that's not necessary.

Glencairn beach - it's a downhill stroll from Magpie holiday rental to our local beach, or just 5 minutes by car. Sure, all the 'beautiful people' head to popular Camps Bay and Muizenberg has loads of surfers. But for most of the year, our local beach is not usually busy with visitors. There is free parking by the railway track and sometimes there is a car guard you can tip for keeping an eye on your vehicle. Glen Vlei (nature reserve) - The nature reserve is a short walk away from Magpie. It's a haven for nature lovers, bird watchers and walkers. Our tip is to source your snacks from the Low Impact Living Project, a waste-free cafe and grocer just downstairs from the Glen Hotel.
