Where to eat
This is our all-time favorite spot in the high desert. It’s a small restaurant with amazing vibes, deliciously comforting food and is owned & run by some of the coolest desert dwellers. They serve excellent wines (ask if they have any wine made by Eric Wareheim of “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!”). We love ordering family style so we can try as many things as possible. Their menu changes every year after their summer travels.
They are open 11-4 Thursday through Sunday as first-come, first-serve and also take limited reservations via text (up to 28 days in advance).
Pro tip: Don't arrive hangry since you may be waiting a bit if you don't have a reservation. Order a drink & make some friends while you wait.

Más o Menos is a local favorite and ours too. Stopping by here you’ll quickly see why. It’s got a great vibe, lots of little places to chat with your group and a nice bar area to make new friends. Step back in time at this desert mid century at this revamped classic restaurant and lounge built right on the edge of Yucca’s own small airport. Locally loved gastropub featuring a rotating selection of brews as well as their food menu. Their burger, wings and rotating chicken sandwich are highlights. We also like their grilled cheese and soup combo if they have soup on the menu.
If you like heat, ask for their "death sauce" for a tasty kick!

National Park & Hiking
Having Joshua Tree National park hugging the cities of Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree and Twentynine Palms makes this area a special place to visit. We hope you make some time exploring it whether through the main park or some of the free hikes we've shared as well.
Its no wonder that people come from all over to visit this beautiful national park. The expansive views, thousands of centuries old Joshua Trees, bouldering, and stargazing are only a handful of things this high desert park has to offer.
If all that the park has to offer is overwhelming, reach out to us and let us know what you're looking for (long hike, short walks good for all ages, photo ops, etc) and we will point you in the right direction!

OUR LOCAL TIP
The West Entrance in Joshua Tree is THE BUSIEST entrance and can often result in long wait times and traffic. Because of this, our preferred way to visit the park is to drive to the least trafficked "North Entrance" in Twentynine Palms and drive through the park all the way back to Joshua Tree. This route is gorgeous and takes you past some of the less visited, but well-loved by locals spots like Split Rock and Jumbo Rocks. It also makes the whole trip a loop rather than an in/out drive. Plus you end up in Joshua Tree where you can refresh with food and drinks or some shopping.
ABOUT WEATHER & SAFETY
No matter what time of year, ALWAYS bring plenty of water when you hike in the high elevation of the Mojave Desert.
Visit the park when it will be the most comfortable for you and your travel companions by checking the hourly weather breakdown before you head into the park. This will help you figure out what times to go. You might find that later evening might be better than early mornings or vice versa.
In extreme Summer heat many of the mid to long distance hikes are closed due to people's risk of exposure so it's wise to check the weather day of or speak with a ranger at the JTNP Visitors Center about which hikes/areas are open. WILDLIFE
Always practice caution when climbing up rocks as you risk falling or coming across snakes that live in the rocks. The park is home to many creatures, some gentle and some poisonous, thriving in the harsh elements.
If you see any wild creature, respect them by keeping your distance and admiring them from afar. Never feed animals, harm them or pick them up...especially the endangered Desert Tortoise. If you see one just know you're witnessing a rare and lucky sighting! If one poses a threat or needs help, alert a park ranger.

Kyle and I really like this hike because it’s much closer to the house (west side of JT National park) and there is no entrance fee at all. It’s a bit more strenuous than some but has great views once you get up on the ridge line.
Also this hike has one of the largest & older Joshua Trees in the middle of the Trail for some good photo opportunities. Just don’t hang or climb it as it’s incredibly fragile and centuries old!
From the main Panorama Loop trail you can break off to and in/out Trail to Warren Peak (the markers aren’t great and just have WP in faded paint on a post). It’s a good workout and when you make it to the top is awesome for eating lunch and taking in some pretty epic views of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio Mountains. Look for the hikers note box hidden in the rocks to read message of those who came before and leave a note for those who come after.

They book in advance so check as soon as possible to see if they have any public sound bath sessions available during your trip dates.
