Take this train to the montenvers station to view the mer de glace, (sea of ice) and check out the ice cave artificially carved into the glacier each season. If you purchase a multi pass you can do this and l'aguille du midi in the same day if you get an early enough start.

If you don't have via ferratta experience you'll need to hire a guide to take you, this is one of my favorites. Easy access from the flegere cable car it can be combined with a hike to lac blanc before or after to complete your day.

Merlet Animal Park is a 52-acre preserve sheltering more than 80 mountain animals in their natural habitat. This site utilizes pastures, rocky outcroppings, and pine forest and the animals roam free, without fences or barriers. However, do keep your distance—this is not a petting zoo. If seeing wildlife is on your list, this is where you need to go. you can also make this a hike down from the brevent cable car, and hike or take a shuttle back to chamonix.
