Facing south and looking onto Mont Blanc, La Flégère is the departure point for classic grande randonnée hikes to magnificent mountain lakes. From Les Praz village, the cable car rises over the Chamonix golf course and takes you to the La Flégère site at 1,877m. If you want to go higher, a chair lift takes you to the Index, at 2,595m. There are hiking paths to Lac Blanc, and Les Chéserys lakes in the Aiguilles Rouges, a natural conservation area. In Winter you can use the same lifts and connect back to Le Brevent.

It's about a 40 min walk thru the valley next to the river up to the Flegere cable car (or take the bus). Take the cable car up and there are a couple of very nice (summer) hikes: 1. The Grand Balcon Nord to Planpraz (and continue up to Brevent if feeling energetic). About 2-2.5h to Planpraz, goes up and down but not extreme (similar to Montenvers to Plan d'Aiguille but a bit shorter). 2. Lac Blanc. I think this is about 3-4h round trip - beautiful terrain - I've seen Ibex on the trail. Both are very busy in summer but still worth it.

La vue est magnifique : Aiguille Verte, les Drus, Grandes Jorasses, Aiguille du Midi, Mont-Blanc, … À noter que le sommet du Télécabine de la Flégère est accessible également aux piétons, même en hiver.
