Hofsós is a village on the west side of the Tröllaskagi peninsula that is worth visiting, even though it’s very small. The main attraction of the village is a swimming pool that was given to the community by two women that love the village and own residents nearby. The pool itself is situated on the sea shore, to the south of the village. When you swim from south to north, the surface of the pool and the surface of the ocean below appear to merge, and the swimmer seems to be setting a course straight for the island of Drangey. The drive from Siglufjörður to Hosfós is 58 km. The shortest way back to Akureyri is through Rout nr. 1 and the distance is around 133 km.
