In Iceland the state has the monopoly on selling alcohol. This means that there are only two places in the region to buy alcohol, one in Selfoss and one place in Hveragerdi. They close at 18:00 Mondays - Thursdays, 19:00 on Fridays and 16:00 on Saturdays.

Here you can buy alcohol, beer and wine. It´s not open late so go during the day :-) And it´s closed on sundays.

This is the closest place to buy liquor and beer. You cannot buy alcohol drinks in the grocery stores. You can only buy light beer in the grocery store (2% alc).

Vínbúðin, liquor store. Beer, wine and liquor is only sold in liquor stores in Iceland

Liquor store, the only place apart from Duty-Free to buy anything stronger than 2,25% alcohol (outside of restaurants and bars, of course).
