Arthurs Seat and Salisbury Crags are natural rock formations in Edinburgh's Holyrood Park. The park is probably the most astonishing urban park in the UK and not only because it is ideally suited for a wide range of activities but because it's one of the best vantage points in Edinburgh.

You can see the Pentland Hills to the South, the Bass Rock to the East and on a clear day, you can see all the way to Stirling and the Forth bridges -- Forth Road and Forth Rail bridge -- to the West.
The topography of Holyrood Parks gives visitors several ways to approach Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags. The most difficult way up on the Crags is along the obvious and steep pathway that starts from across the street from Holyrood Palace. It is so steep that sometimes it feels like climbing a wall and an increased level of fitness is therefore required.
An easier approach is to start from Holyrood Palace and walk along Queen's Drive, the road that surrounds the base of the park. A good 30 minutes are required to go around the park and get to the smooth paved slope up Salisbury Crags.
Of all possible paths in Holyrood Park, this is probably the most scenic. You walk along the dramatic sheer drops that are Salisbury Crags or even on top of them looking down. The views across to Edinburgh with its Castle and Old Town are truly impressive.

One of Edinburgh's most secret but treasured gems - not far from the Sheep's Heid Pub in Duddingston if you fancy a gentle walk through Holyrood Park taking the Queen's Drive route around the base of Arthur's Seat.
Holyrood Park is a favourite spot for walkers, and Dr Neil’s Garden makes an ideal stop-over on a hike around the park, taking in spectacular views of the City.

It's simply amazing - a wonderful hybrid of Victorian Exhibition and modern architecture. A testimony to some fantastic curatorship. This museum is a great place to go, you don't have just art, you have interaction with the people, you have science, you have history, you have literally a little but of everything. It is amazing! You must reserve a few hours and get lost in this amazing museum. If you have children you need to go here as there are tons of activities for children all ages. Best of all, it's free! (On a good day, make sure to go to the roof garden for some spectacular 360 degree views of the city)

Summerhall, now a thriving arts venue which hosts exhibitions and performances all year long, used to be the Royal School of Veterinary Studies, known as 'The Dick Vet’. Pickering’s Gin is housed in the old dog kennels, and they use the old animal cages to store their bottles.
They offer a fantastic gin tour with exceedingly generous samples of gins they have to offer. Well worth the £10. Make sure to eat first!
