This little store is the closest one to the cabin and here you can get most essentials. It is just a few minute drive from the cabin but it is not the cheapest grocery store nor does it have the greatest selection so it is best to plan to stop in Selfoss on your way to the cabin and stock up on food and essentials there before you go to the cabin. In case you forgot to bring something then this store is close by :)

Parks & Nature
This is a must visit park so take your time strolling around the area. Make sure to walk up to the Öxarár Waterfall while you are there and keep in mind that you could book some snorkeling in Silfra and also just see it for the sake of seeing it, without going in.

The Secret Lagoon is an old pool that has its water source from straight from a hot spring. It was called the Secret Lagoon because no tourists used to know about it, and it used to be a secret only Icelanders knew about. But, not any longer as most of the people there will be tourists but do plan to go in and do not forget to bring your bathing suit. This is a genuinely nice, and authentic pool to soak in for a couple hours. You can buy drinks at the bar and take them outside in a plastic cup.

This is of course a long ride from the cabin at 4,5 hours each way but it is doable and a truly breathtaking thing to see. You will need to plan on leaving really early in the morning and coming back home in the evening. Having at least an hour there is a must but there are a few stops along the way so this is probably going to be a long day. Pack snacks and do not make too many stops along the way. You can also do the stops on your way back. It would probably be ideal to stay somewhere for one night close to Jokulsarlon - the glacier lagoon but like I said, this as a day trip is still doable, if you are focused and on a mission!

When you drive past or walk down to Reynisfjara beach make sure to keep your eyes open to this beautiful sight. An island off Vik that is slowly being hammered down by the ocean waves.

A gorgeous black beach, it takes a while to walk to it and make sure to be VERY careful of the waves here as they are sneaker waves that have taken the lives of a few visitors.

Right by the base of Vatnajökull, Europe's largest waterfall is Skaftafell. From there you can find trails that lead up to the glacier.

A cute little town known for having some greenhouses and lots of underground hot springs. It has some stores but my favorite thing is the trail that leads to the hot springs.

Entertainment & Activities
You can go to the top of this beautiful glacier if you book a snowmobile tour with South Adventure Tours. It was one of the most amazing and memorable experiences I have had here in my home country. The tours are not cheap but man are they memorable.
