If you are coming from Sydney, Berry town is about 40 minutes to Vincentia. We love this little town, it is very unique and full of character. Perfect stop for lunch, the cafes along the main stretch are cosy and the food are scrumptious. Make sure you save room for donut and milkshake from the famous Donut Van. There is always a queue because any time is a good time for fresh hot cinnamon donut right. You can also pick up beautiful Australian handmade furniture or art work from the boutique store, just don’t go overboard with your shopping.

Just a few minutes from Berry town centre, you can visit Silos Winery. I absolutely love this place, it has the most breathtaking view. Worth a visit, stretch your legs, book a spot for lunch or just come in, have a chat to their friendly staff, taste some of the local’s finest cheese and wine. Make sure you grab a bottle to support the local winery industry and of course enjoy your well deserved drink once you get to Serenity by the Bay. The estate also have a few supercharger for Tesla EV, what a perfect place to taste some wine while charging your vehicle, just not too many drinks even though you totally can drive on autopilot mode to destination (just saying )

Huskisson town centre is only 5 minutes from Serenity by the Bay. Where do I start, I just love hanging around this place. Let start with food, so many great places to eat, I suggest you take your time and try them all. My favourite breakfast spot is 5 Little Pigs, great Campos coffee and their French toast is to die for, sure will wake up all your senses and energies you for the full day ahead. Their portion is decent and there is a long queue during peak hours. Of course we can not go pass Husky pub, the local watering hole. They have happy hours and daily specials, so keep an eye out for the special board. What a perfect space for afternoon drink or two with open water view to watch the sunset before dinner. Club Jervis Bay ( Huskisson RSLClub) is right next door and is an old favourite of the locals, pay them a visit too. For other dinning option, try Stone Grill for interesting steak and grill experience or Wild ginger for that perfect fusion food. Other dinning you’ll find along the main Huskisson are Kanpai Japanese (the salmon bowl is my go to, so fresh and light great pairing with a chilled white wine or Japanese plum wine) or heart warming curry by Taj Indian. The restaurants are family friendly and well catered for kids. If you have a large group, make sure you book especially during holiday season. Nothing the kids would love more than the local playground. Bring a picnic rug, grab some fish and chips take out from Worlds famous Fish & Chips and watch the world go by while the kids have a workout with endless laughters at the park (seriously where do they get their energy from). Make sure to reward them and yourself with a gelato or two from Huskisson Icecream Palour or The Great Husky Bite near by. During winter months, you must go on Dolphin/Whales watching cruises. We never get sick of seeing this magnificent marine life that Jervis Bay has to offer. The kids and I would scream in excitement every time we spotted some dolphins, yes, every single time! Huskisson is very popular for water activities like snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding and diving. They operate throughout summer. I’m not very adventurous but have tried kayaking and paddle boarding around the Bay. Let just say I am just not good at it but it was an amazing experience. Must try! Booking in advance is recommended. There are many tours operating during the summer months too so keep yourself informed by following us on social media for updates. Husky cinema is one of the historic iconic spot that many tourists have enjoyed especially during school holidays. To be honest we haven’t been there because at Serenity by the Bay we have multiple movie streaming platforms but a visit to Husky cinema should be on the agenda. Finish off your day with a stroll along the paved footpath (pram friendly) don’t forget to say G’day to the local walking their dog. Or if you are keen, again, have another walk by the beach and explore the little rock pool while listening to the splashing waves. Who said you can’t walk along the beach 5 times a day.

Sightseeing

You just have to come to this place and experience this gem for yourself. The ocean is just so blue, the sand is just so fine. It is known for its whitest sand in the world. We never get sick of coming here for a dip, a walk or just to enjoy the views. It can be hard to find parking during peak season, the council designated parking lot only has a few spots with 2P limit. You can park along the street and walk also. Both Little Hyams and the main Hyams have a few steps down, the beach is dog friendly and there’s toilet facilities located in the carpark. Make sure you pack some drinks or snacks though, as there is only 1 cafe near by and they do get packed out. During winter times, if you are brave like the locals going for daily swim in the ocean, you might be lucky to swim along the dolphins. They do come out for food close to shore. Make sure you take your rubbish with you when you leave.

Murrays Beach faces north towards Bowen Island, where the local little penguin colony live and breed. It is a fantastic beach to enjoy the sunrise. The water is crystal clear, perfect for diving and other water activities. However there is no lifeguards so make sure you are familiar with safe water practices and supervise young children at all time. Parking is available, just a little hike to get to the beach, so a beach trolley would be very handy here. There are friendly hiking tracks around the area too. You can soak up beautiful nature, wildlife and wild floral displays along the hike, especially during spring time. Please note: Murray’s Beach carpark is upgrading from 12th September 2022 for a few weeks. However signage will be in place to direct visitors to alternative beach access or parking during this time.

Collingwood beach stretches over 2.2km long. You can enter this beach anywhere from Elizabeth Drive. You can walk or jog along the paved foot path or along the beach. I love to come here for an easy morning walk then some pastries and coffee at Vincentia Shopping Village. You can take our bikes, head down the bike path cut through Bayswood Estate, this will lead you directly out to Collingwood beach. It’s only about 1km going through the estate and some bush land.

If you have young kids, this is perfect day out for the little ones. Shallow crystal clear waters and white sands with no waves and warm water. It is a perfect little lagoon to practice paddle boarding or kayaking. During summer school holiday, you see the local kids lining up for a jump into the water from the small bridge. So fun to watch. There are picnic tables and electric operated BBQ for a fun family day out. Bring a large picnic rug and some toys to build sand castles with. The playground has been upgraded with extended play equipment, large shade and new toilet facilities. It is easy to find a parking but make sure you go early during peak season.

Orion Beach, Barfleur Beach, Nelson Beach, Chinaman Beach. All these little beaches are only a few minutes drive from Serenity by the Bay, along the coast of Elizabeth Drive. They are local’s hidden gems, the beach is quite, calm and have less of a tourist feel. Orion is our family’s regular visit as the kids love the calm waves and the little rock pools. You will find many beginner paddle boarder or scuba diver practicing from these marine shorelines. Pack some drinks and little snacks and just enjoy the calmness.

Home Co Shopping Centre Home Co Shopping Centre is an easy 4 minutes walk from Serenity by the Bay. That’s right, it’s that close. For all your groceries needs during your stay, there are Woolworths and Aldi as the two main supermarkets. I recommend Jervis Bay Meat Co, they have fresh produce for all your BBQ needs. They also do catering, so give them a buzz to put in an order or just simply pick up their BBQ pack in store. If you don’t feel like cooking, you are spoilt with choices from fast food to cafe just minutes away. You’ll find Oporto, Subway, Kebab Factory, The Salty Crab, Jamaica Blue, Guru Cafe, Bakers Delight, Tokyo Sushi and Silver Spoon Thai. ( My favourite is Soft shell Crab burger from The Salty Crab) The centre also have Choice Pharmacy, La Glamour Nails & Beauty and Cut Loose Hairdressing for all your Health and Beauty needs. Caltex Petroleum is located just on the outside of the centre. Here you can pick up ice bags, firewood and Gas swap & go.
