Quiet laid-back village-type vibe. Grab pastries, bread, and handmade chocolates in La Cuenca. Have a coffee in the old square or enjoy a beer in the late afternoon. Check out the lovely charm of the old town and church. There is a market here every Friday morning and that is a great time to do a bit of wandering around. Favourite places for food - El Porton, La Carabassa for interesting tapas (get there early you can't book) El Obrador for breakfast and nice coffee. La Gramola for wine and cocktails, they also do great snack-type Asian and Mexican fusion food in the evenings. Kafe cafe for tapas and local music, they also have a little park next to it so great if you have kids. Casino Musical de Benimaclet (local music centre that is the hub of the old town local music concerts that does a great Sunday Jazz night...also Blues and other nights in the week). Balthazar Segui for traditional bodega type daytime weekend aperitif? (shut at night). Olegari for super cheap and delicious small but filling homemade pizzas with a student-type vibe... pay a couple of euros for a surprise pizza. El Aprendiz for more up-market and wonderful tapas. The Fitzgerald do great veggie and regular burgers etc if you are fed up with local food / want a change and have a little park outside for kids. London bar for locals haunt until the early hours.
