This is the spot in Twentynine Palms for a really yummy, authentic, desert experience. We LOVE Kitchen in the Desert and highly recommend making a reservation because they do get busy. You can check their Instagram for events, music, and comedy nights as well. Dress for the weather as most of the seating is outside. They have heaters and fire pits for when it's cold.

Jelly Donut is a historic, family-owned spot that is worth the visit if you like fresh and delicious donuts. They also have really good ramen, pho, dumpling tacos, and other Vietnamese dishes.

Red Dog is the spot in Pioneertown if you want to experience something other than Pappy & Harriets. There is a Saturday morning farmers market in Joshua Tree that is awesome and super fun, and there is also a farmers market on Saturday morning downtown Twentynine Palms. You can't miss it when you drive on the 62 hwy through town.

Stater Bros is the local grocery store in Twentynine Palms. It has a fine produce section and all the typical grocery store finds. This is a small, rural town grocery store so be kind when in line and be patient with employees.

Drive the speed limit
We live in a super delicate eco-system and our wildlife is incredibly important to the whole of that system. When travelers speed through the national park, or through our neighborhoods, or on the highways we endanger the wildlife because they get hit by fast-moving vehicles. Just go the speed limit and keep an eye out for animals.

Be kind and patient
This is a rural desert town that can get overwhelmed by the large number of travelers that come to visit our area each year. Please be kind and patient with service workers and locals. We move a bit slower around here! We are doing our best.

Drink water!
Drink water and make sure to pack more water than you think you might need when going for a hike. The desert is no joke. It gets hot and dry and many people every year underestimate the desert and overestimate their abilities and find themselves in trouble. Stay alive! Hydrate. Know your limits. When in doubt, turn around.
