What a great place for breakfast or lunch (sometimes dinner). Their homemade macadamia bread will leave you stuffed for days. They also offer great pastry. Located at a less than 15-minute drive from town, in the direction of Tilarán.

If you are looking for some fun on the lake then take some classes with the well experienced teacher Sander. He has been teaching over 25 years. Besides Wakeboarding he also does, skiing, wake surf, wake skate and tubing. What a great way to be out there on the lake.

- Visit Lago Cote; just up the road from Residencial Las Flores (Google Maps) This heart shaped lake is considered by many indigenous tribes in Latin America to be the navel of Mother Earth. The hike up to the lake from 142 will take about 1 hour (one way).

The Venado Caves contain configurations over 6 million years old bear the beauty of waterfalls, numerous stalactites and stalagmites, and an exotic fauna like fish, insects, spiders and four different species of bats! They are open 7 days a week from 8 am till 15:00. Bring extra set of clothes, tennis shoes and a waterproof camera. Many people pointed this tour out as one of the highlights of Costa Rica. The tours is about $25 pp and includes entrance, boots, helmets, flashlights, bilingual guide, access to the swimming pool.

Renting a car
The lake Arenal area is still pretty remote. There are busses and taxi's but I highly recommend renting a car to get around. Roads are windy but at the same time very scenic.
