Tilaran is the major hub for our area with 3 banks, several grocery stores, fruit/vegetable markets, pharmacies, and butcher shops. There are also lots of retail stores for all forms of merchandise.

Friends Monica and Rob host guests on a serene property near Nuevo Arenal a 45 minute drive from Casa Del Sol. Monica is world famous for her delicious and beautifully presented breakfasts and perhaps even more notable are her authentic german Schnitzels and Rueben sandwiches. She has a beautiful shop attached to the restaurant with creations from artists all over Costa Rica for you to browse during your visit. Be sure to bring your camera for photos of the dozens of hummingbirds who gather within arms reach and the various other birds and lizards who call this beautiful property home.

Cafe Macadamia is renowned for its delicious breakfasts, soups, sandwiches and sweet baked goods. The views are spectacular. It is about a 30 minute drive from Casa Del Sol but it is on the way to La Fortuna so you can plan your trip with a stop in here along the route to or from the volcano.
