Best in Puerto Nuevo. No views, but most delicious seafood. Get the shrimp, crab and lobster platter. Says serves 2-3, but more likely 3-5. Comes with rice, beans, delicious tortillas, fish soup. So good!

Neighborhoods

La Mision is a small village. Driving, Go out the main entrance gate and take a right. This will take you into La Mision. Del Valle will be immediately on your left- it has a coffee shop, Archer's pizza, mail store, thrift. store, chiropractor and a Saturday Market. It's small. There are bodegas and farmacias where you can easily buy produce and whatever you may need. We usually go to the one on the right with the produce all outside. Tacos Richi- Pork Adobada or Carne Asada Tacos, burritos, tortas. and quesadillas. It's yummy and cheap. On the right on the road into La Mision. There's another pizza place right across from Tacos Richi. I have heard the breakfast burrito and other food is great at Maganas, but I have not been yet. Monday morning Open Air Market: It's a nice walk. Don't bring dogs because there are strays along the way and in the village. Go out the garage and take a right, going away from the Playa LaMision entrance gates. Follow the road as it curves to the left under the freeway. Walk along the estuary. It's pretty, bird watching, etc. You will run right into the market after about 15 min walk. The market is super small, but it has lime and or mango shaved ice that the kids like. You can buy fresh made pizzas, produce and fresh birria(beef) tacos, they are very yummy, for those that eat beef. The caldo(broth) from the birria place is delicious.

City/town information

This is a larger village just north of us. Our fave fish taco and ceviche place is here. It is the best. There is a fun market on Saturdays and Sundays(a bit smaller). You can rent four wheelers and ride the sand dunes. Saturday/Sunday Market: It's where the locals go. On Saturday from 7am until 2pm. All kinds of Mexican prepared foods, fresh produce, sweets, clothes, housewares, plumbing supplies, you name it, etc. Los Arenales Sand Dunes: on the north end of Primo Tapia In the village of Primo Tapia, by the beach, are the dunes formations which cover a few square kilometers, these oceanfront dunes are known as Los Arenales. Los Arenales is an internationally famous place for people who enjoy motocross and 4x4 vehicles. When you visit LosArenales you will see contrasting scenery, highlighting the desert sand and the sea a few meters away. Location: KM 48.5 Carretera Libre Tijuana - Ensenada, Playas de Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico I think it was $50/hour to rent a 4 wheeler. you can take turns, etc. Scared the crap out of me, but the family loved it! Pikin Zip Line Park on the South end of Primo Tapia https://pikinrosarito.com/en/home/ We haven't been yet, but it's close and has good reviews and looks fun. Restaurants: Mariscos La Allegria: You must go! 3rd generation female family owned restaurant and taco stand in Primo Tapia, the bigger town to the north of us, about 10 min. You can safely eat there or pick it up. I always get the fish ceviche tostada and the fish taco on corn tortillas. The breading is corn so everything is gf. They fry everything fresh in fresh oil and it's not greasy at all. so so so so so good. You can get fried or butter fish or shrimp tacos. They have plenty of other stuff too. and we always get at least one fresh tortilla because they are so so so good. They close at 7pm, so be sure to go for lunch or early dinner or pick up before 7pm. * Also, we often stop here on our way out as a final easy delicious meal. Collectivo Surf https://www.yelp.com/biz/colectivo-surf-rosarito This place looks great. We have not tried it yet. Ollies Pizza: Delicious artisan pizza Brown Dog Gelato: Super yummy gelato. We love the affogato. It's a shot of espresso that you pour over your scoop of gelato. so good.

Puerto Nuevo is about 15 min north of us. If you aren't going to venture to Rosarito and/or Ensenada, but the kids/adults want to do some shopping for Mexican wares, dresses, huaraches, wedges, toys, purses, crystals, talavera, dream catchers, hammocks, blankets, decor etc etc, this is the closest place. It's all outdoor and quick and fun to walk through. Also known as Lobster village, so go here for delicious seafood dinner. check online, but I believe they are open until 9pm. Las Brisas: Super yummy. Sit on the second or third level. We order the Las Brisas Platter with lobster, shrimp and crab claws for 2-3 people. It can easily feed 4-6 people. It comes with a yummy small fish soup, rice, beans, and amazing fresh tortillas. Highly recommend it. Doesn't have ocean views like some other restaurants there, but it's so fresh and delish. Sandra's: Looks delicious. My landscape designer owns a restaurant and she reco'd this one. I will try it next time. I trust her judgement... http://sandraspuertonuevo.com

Sightseeing

Tide Pools: Check the tide schedule here: https://www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Alisitos/tides/latest it's fun to explore the tide pools and scramble the rocks. Go out the front stairs to the beach. Walk to the right, north along the ocean. It is a beautiful walk and you should get to see a bit of the tide pools if you go closer to low tide times. If the kids or adults have water shoes, bring them. We don't use them, but the kids use them to explore around the rocks and tide pools. It won't be a problem if you don't have them though.
