Very scenic. The restaurant has a new design but is built into the old walls of the castle. The team is very young and has a great spirit. They cook with regional ingrediants. On some Sundays they have a really nice brunch. It is best to reserve and ask for a table next to the large window if you go for brunch or dinner. For lunch you could just walk in and sit in their patio in the shade.

This is the beach area of Oberhofen. It is a great little spot to go swim in the lake or just to enjoy the sun. There is a playground for kids and a small bistro where you could get some snacks, drinks and ice cream.

The Niederhorn you can reach by car/bus and then taking a gondola. Up on the mountain there are great views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. You may spot ibex and marmots. If you feel adventurous you can rent a little scooter to go downhills.

The St. Beatus Caves are a very impressive site to visit on those rainy days. You can walk about 900 meters into the mountain and get to see many great rock formations. Make sure you take a jacket with you, even in summer. it is always around 8 degrees in the caves. Best is to take the ship from Oberhofen Pier to Sundlauene and then hike about 25 minutes to the caves. Alternatively you may take the bus (free of charge with your Panorama Card) or the car to Beatushöhlen. There is as well a small museum where you get to see some mountain crystals.

The castle is dated from 1200 and has had several different ownerships. The museum is showing the history of his past inhabitants. The exhibition gives you a good idea of how the Bernese upper class life style must have been sometimes inbetweeek the 16th and the 19th century.
There is a really nice park attached to it. It is perfect for walking and lake watching. There are a few really big and old trees and the park is well maintained. (The castle closes for the winter season, closed on mondays as well)

If you have time consider to visit the Swiss capital. Its old town is UNESCO World Cultural Heritage and it is very scenic. A bid plus are the arcades that allow for covered open air shopping. You can easily spend a rainy day in Bern without getting wet. Another thing you should not miss are the bears, the Zytglogge - clock tower and the markets (they are usually on Tuesday and Saturday mornings)

On Burchgasse, there is a really cool cheese specialty shop called Käserei Haldemann. Stop by and say hi to Renate, the owner. She sells cheese from the alps around the Lake Thun. You may pick up as well fresh yoghurt and milk.

The Fitness park offers a bog indoor pool, a fitness center and saunas. It is currently (Summer 2017) under renovations, but will open sometimes in Autumn. I am looking forward to explore the updated version, since already the old version was perfect for the winter days.
