Frontier is a great spot with coffee, tea and kombucha on tap. Love their smoked tempeh "BLT" and their freshly baked, gigantic macaroons. Also a fun spot for hanging out — sometimes there's live music.

La Copine is probably the best restaurant in YV. It's in Flamingo Heights, on the way to/from the Integratron. They are open for lunch and dinner and the food is unique, fresh and organic. Great for vegetarians. Go early for dinner or there's a line.

Drive-thru open 24 hours! Disclaimer up front -- some people don't like this place, but we love it! Breakfast burritos, chicken achiote and vegetarian. Salsas and aguas frescas are great, too.

This is a great little market, with a carne asada meat counter and tubs of grated cheese for nachos or queso, plus some other Mexican items. In the back is a taco shop that is incredible. Asada, pollo, al pastor. You can even hire them to make tacos at your house!

Sushi in the desert? Yes. This place is great. Rolls and sushi are fresh and delicious. They also have bento boxes, tempura and they just opened a poke bar at lunchtime. Full bar. Don't bother with the ramen, though.

Five minutes from the 29 Palms entrance to the park, which is probably the prettiest entrance. Go there for brunch and then hit the park.
