I definitely recommend going into the park! You will see some beautiful desert land with huge boulders, mountains, unique plants and cacti, and incredible sunsets and starry skies. You'll need a vehicle to get around (it's huge).

About 20 minutes from Joshua Tree, Pioneertown was built in the 40s as a western-themed movie set and is a great place to explore and get some good food. For food/drinks, check out The Red Dog Saloon and Pappy and Harriet's.

Most restaurants in and near Joshua Tree close around 9, so keep that in mind when planning your meals!
This diner-style restaurant is great for breakfast, but they also have good lunch and dinner options (I thought the reuben from there was delicious).

If you're looking for something quick that hits the spot, Algoberto's has really good street-style tacos and burritos. I came here starving and couldn't have been happier with my al pastor burrito.

Every time I'm in Joshua Tree I go here and get the "Monkey Business" smoothie, I'm addicted. It's completely vegetarian/vegan options, so they have a lot of healthy wraps and things in addition to the smoothies
