Do not hesitate to depart Austin without trying this little inconspicuous neighborhood bakery. It has a variety of baked goodies that will really take you by surprise! My favorites include the cookies....to die for!! Better than San Francisco sourdough bread and the breakfast menu specials.MMMMMmmmm... A fantastic little find! By far the best preserves, meat pies, and biscuits I have tasted in a long while. This is my new neighborhood go to even if I have to navigate the temporary street construction.

Visit the Purple Martin Sanctuary on Kinney & Virginia Ave! Enjoy a glass of wine at the picnic tables while taking in the best downtown skyline views and the peaceful Purple Martin bird colony. They nest seasonally from March thru late July and return to Brazil every year. Meet one of the many volunteers/neighbors who care for them daily in groups.
