I highly recommend checking out this beer garden. They have a good selection, their prices are moderate, and you can't beat drinking outdoors in the summer. Open 4:00 - 10:30pm.

I highly recommend this bar for drinks and/or dinner. Their food is great, they've got a huge beer selection to choose from, and perhaps an even bigger variety of whiskeys.

This bbq is amazing -- that's all I can say. They're open Tuesday - Saturday, 12-8pm, but don't show up at the last minute because they'll probably be out of some things. Seating is limited.

Great kabob restaurant within easy walking distance. I recommend the lamb biryani or goat curry (watch out for the bones), meat samosas and lassi's to drink. Open 11am-10pm M-Th/noon-10pm Sat&Sun.

Good tacos are EXTREMELY hard to come by in DC. Do yourself a favor and get a plate of three tacos and a horchata or Tecate if you're out around U Street. Open M-F 4pm-10pm/Sat noon-10pm.

This place is greasy, a total dive and probably not worth the wait. But if you're coming from abroad and want to experience an American diner, there's no place better. Open M-F till 5pm/Sat&Sun to 3.

Great place to stop, in addition to a ton of other places on this section of Penn, after visiting the Capitol. I recommend the Obama Burger with applewood smoked bacon. Open till 11pm.

This is like the only place to go in DC for genuine Lebanese shwarma -- and it's perfect. Wash it down with ayran (salty yogurt drink) if you feel like trying something new. Open till 9pm/3am weekends

A small, out of the way park, but certainly worth visiting if you're in the area. The cascade waterfall and tree-lined hillside are beautiful.
