Food scene
Unique collection of shops, restaurants, and bars. There are excellent dining choices downtown. Some of my personal favorites include: Indigenous (cottage turned dining room, make a reservation), State Street Eating House (great cocktails and food), Selva Grill (pricier, but worth it. great bar menu/happy hour), Owen's Fish Camp (super cool vibes with a "backyard" where you will find live music and a couple of guys grilling appetizers over a fire), Lila (mostly vegetarian with a few fish/chicken options), Boca (farm to table, locally sourced ingredients), and Circo (casual, for tacos and bourbon).

My favorites include: Shore Diner (casual coastal vibe with excellent food and surf shop down below), Cafe L'Europe (delicious fine dining experience), Crab + Fin (terrific seafood and sidewalk piano player), and Kilwin's (for ice cream, homemade fudge, and many other delectable confections).

One of my favorite things to do, is go to The Haye Loft after dinner for one of their signature (huge) desserts. They have freshly made cakes and pies that rotate nightly. You will usually find a local musician playing in The Loft as well. Fun thing to do after dinner!

You will usually find a local musician playing in The Loft as well. Fun thing to do after dinner!

The sun is very intense, wear sunscreen, and bring lots of water. There are concession stands, bathrooms, showers, and a playground for children near the main parking lot.

Beautiful fallen trees and paths throughout a small peninsula of north longboat key. Usually not crowded because it’s a bit of a walk from parking. Feels secluded and private.
