Absolutely gorgeous views of the Ko'olaus. Get there early just before they open for dinner at 4:30 to snag a prime seat along the balcony overlooking the Haiku gardens and the majestic Ko'olaus. Food is pricey, but excellent. Recommend the Prime Rib, teriyaki steak, and any seafood dish.

Just down the road from our house, Mike's Huli Chicken is a great food truck offering local favorites like Huli Chicken (a local rotisserie style) and Garlic Shrimp. It has been featured on the Food network, and deservedly so.

Parks & Nature
Mokoli'i - better known as Chinaman's Hat - is a small island located just across from Kualoa regional park at the north end of Kaneohe Bay. It can be seen from the lanai of our home.
One of our favorite activities is to kayak or even wade (at low tide) across from the beach park to the small island, where you can take in breathtaking views of Kaneohe bay and the Ko'olau mountains. Around the back side of the island is a small beach and some really neat tide pools. Intrepid visitors can also climb to the top of the island and enjoy incredible 360 degree views. If you're interested in going out to the island, let us know and we can recommend a plan of attack!

Paved hiking trail, easy enough for hikers of all skill levels. Can even push a stroller! Best view on Oahu for a paved hike. Check out the historic lighthouse from the top, or catch a sunset.

Try to go on a weekday if possible as it can get a bit crowded on weekends and holidays.

There is also an enormous tide pool where you can wade among coral and tropical fish - basically like snorkeling but without the swimming. This is an awesome place for young kids, who will love splashing in the shallow water, collecting hermit crabs and watching the fish swim.

Possibly the single most beautiful beach on Oahu. White sands and turquoise water. Only open on weekends, Bellows is one of the least crowded beaches on Oahu, and makes for a great, quiet place to relax.

If you get here and the parking lot is full, you can either drive back and forth for a while until it opens again, or park down the hill off of Nawiliwili St and walk up the hill. It's not ideal, but it can be done.
There is a $7 charge for non-residents and a 10 minute orientation video. Both well worth it.

Our go-to beach. Traffic in Kailua can be a bit tough during rush hour, but Kailua beach and neighboring Lanikai are two of the most beautiful beaches on Oahu. The sand is perfectly white and incredibly fine. It feels - and looks - like walking in powdered sugar.
Kailua is also the best spot on Oahu for kite-surfing, which is fun to watch.

Kailua is also the best spot on Oahu for kite-surfing, which is fun to watch.
