Insiders tip, if the wait is long go right next door to the bar. Owned by the same people and you can have breakfast there. Never a wait.

These are some of my favorite wineries, most of which do need advance reservations. It's customary to purchase wine when tasting at private wineries as this is how they survive.
Some will have tasting fees that will be refunded with a purchase but make sure you inquire about their policy.
Pam Starr is just that, a "STAR" winemaker in Napa Valley since the mid 80's. This is a charming, laid back winery and experience, with price points that appeal to all buyers.

I ran Direct to Consumer Sales and their Wine Club for 3.5 years and can tell you their commitment to the quality of the wine they produce knows no bounds. Highly recommended.
