Iconic, local brunch spot with locations all over Denver. Be prepared to wait, but the wait is worth it.

Burgers, burgers, burgers. Arguably the best in Denver and we're not the only ones that think so (Google it!). Outdoor seating is a must on sunny Denver days, which we have a lot of around here.

This is our favorite Italian restaurant in the city. Not a red-sauce-and-noodle place at all, but more craft-style small plates and shareable dishes. Great happy hour (notice a theme with us?) and also kid friendly. We like to get the kids dressed up a bit and hit the town for dinner. Or leave the kids at home if you can manage it!

Everything they do is a pleasure. Small space, but the bang out some fantastic dishes. The curries are authentic and the happy hour serves cold Sapporo (2 for 1) and $1 hot sake (the kind you need to drink hot, but still...). The staff is attentive and Karma has never disappointed. Plus, you can go explore South Broadway's local craft scene (retail, distilleries, brewers, etc.) which you can spend at least a half of a day doing.

Definite date-night here. Owned by three brothers, one of which lives in Japan and sources and ships fish direct from the Japanese fishermen each day. Not many do sushi better, including those on the coasts. If you go, try like hell to get a seat at the sushi bar in front of the chefs (if you get Yazu, one of the brothers, even better) and go Omakase-style (chef's choice). These guys are the ultimate pro and deliver a memorable experience. Outstanding sake list and the service is spot-on with pairing recommendations.

Biker Jim started with a hot dog cart slanging tantalizing caribou, buffalo, and rattlesnake dogs (among the regular all-beef dogs, but c'mon) on the 16th street mall. Now he has a brick and mortar location in the Ballpark area (walkable to Coors Field) where he's expanded his menu options and added an excellent beer list. Yes, the dogs are worth it. Don't question it, just do it!

Sightseeing

Go here! Really, pick a morning and GO HERE. Watch the sunrise, or go a little later and hike up to the top of the amphitheatre and look down at the entire city of Denver. Or catch a concert here. Or the FREE museum that highlights every single performance ever held at Red Rocks. Imbibe in margaritas and Tex-Mex at the Morrison Inn (the margs have a reputation so tread carefully) or chow on burgers and beers at the Morrison Holiday Bar.
