Smith Canteen - now called Hungry Ghost but basically the same spot - is just up the block and around the corner. Perfect coffee and baked goods. Savory scones are my favorite. Mind your step through the baby strollers out front.

At night sit at the bar and watch how a professional makes a serious cocktail. Excellent ice, for those of us cocktail nerds.

I've seen amazing bands play here and I've also had great tacos here. The Bell House does it all - all kinds of music, cook offs and other unique things. And it's just down the street.

This neighborhood has a hard working past of factories and manufacturing. But that's behind us now! Walk along the canal and be reminded of the olden days. There are new parks and nice walks to have just down the street. Great for taking in the sunset.

For exercise, take a 15 minutes walk up a slight hill to Prospect Park. This park, designed by the same fellows who designed Central Park, say that it is better designed than it's more famous Manhattan sibling.
