Сан-Антоніо, Texas, Сполучені Штати

The Lavaca Neighborhood Historic District is San Antonio’s oldest neighborhood. We’re just across S.Alamo St from the popular King William Neighborhood Historic District. Together these make up Southtown- the local’s downtown. The Riverwalk is fantastic, but parts are so touristy that it loses its charm for the locals...you’ll find us in Southtown at one of the bars or restaurants or out walking the Riverwalk that runs through our neighborhood. It’s close enough to everything but far enough to avoid the crowds and commercialism. We hope you enjoy visiting San Antonio as a local!

Enjoy the day in Downtown San Antonio enjoying its culture and charm, and indulge at night in one of Southtown’s many award winning restaurants and bars. Some of our favorite spots (and all within walking distance....wait what!?! That’s like permission to indulge a little since your have to walk back!

Grocery: There is an HEB market (15min walk) that will have most everything you need. Also they have killer pizza ($10 for a large pizza- any type/toppings and it comes with 2 draft beers during happy hour 4-7pm. This is a Friday ritual for us!)

- Taco Haven (8 min walk) for amazing breakfast tacos at a great price (Just a $1 during the week! And $1.79 on the weekend)
- The Guenther House (10min walk) in King William for delicious baked treats and gorgeous gardens and outdoor seating area overlooking the river.
- Schilo’s Delicatessen (15min walk) on Commerce, the oldest deli in town, German heritage, great eggs and bacon breakfast...or if you need some Schnitzel for lunch (don’t miss their Split Pea Soup or you’ll be sorry!)
- The Pearl (5 minute drive away) Fantastic food and coffee at Local Coffee, and Bakery Lorraine (which has these amazing Fruity Pebbles Homemade PopTarts, and lovely Macaroons that you can take home with you).
- LuLu’s (a 7 min drive) on the other side of downtown...warning- this is a hole-in-the-wall...but they were featured on Man vs Food for their 3 LB Cinnamon Roll!!! (No joke- its the size of a cafeteria tray!)

Brunch on Sunday:
The Guenther House(a 10-12 min walk along the river) : amazing brunch items and baked goods! A beautiful outside seating area on the river.
Stella (at Blue Star) (10-12min walk): Inexpensive Mimosas and a fairly sophisticated menu.

Commonwealth (a short 7 min walk to Hemisfair, on the way to the convention center)- this beautiful, historic coffee and breakfast spot is amazing! Delicious coffee, handmade treats, and a beautiful atmosphere. And ... they give a discount to military and teachers!
Halcyon at the Blue Star Arts Complex (10-12 min walk) Large variety of coffees and teas in a relaxed, comfy atmosphere. Right next to Riverwalk access.

Lunch or Dinner
B&Ds Ice house (7min walk)... you may catch a whiff of their smokers as you walk through the neighborhood...this is Texas Brisket at it’s finest! Don’t miss out on their Green Chile Mac and Cheese while you’re there.
Rosarios (3 min walk) or Tito’s (5-7min walk): these are our local Mexican Restaurants. At Rosario’s don’t miss the Margaritas ... at Tito’s the
Cilantro Cream Enchiladas are delicious.
Bliss (7 min walk) One of the best restaurants in San Antonio. Amazing cuisine perfect for special occasions. Do yourself a favor and order the fried oyster po-boys. Their mixed drinks are also really good.
Feast (8 min walk) Modern, American cuisine. Hip atmosphere. Solid menu, small portions made to share.
Battalion (5 min walk) Italian. A new upscale restaurant housed in the old fire house, now beautifully renovated. Dinner only, not open on Sunday.
Maverick(a 9 min walk): a new favorite! Amazing food!!! Cool atmosphere! Local ingredients cooked over a wood fire.

The Friendly Spot (5-7min walk) Quintessential San Antonio: Massive live oaks, your grandparents’ lawn furniture, and Steve keeps the best beer selection in town. Casual, laid back, and... friendly.
1919: A speakeasy at the Blue Star Arts Complex...these are the sophisticated mixed drinks you want!
Bar America, literally right down the street. Modern Bar, very popular on weekends.
Francis Bogside(corner of St. Mary’s and Madison): awesome place to go hang out with friends! Great drinks, gourmet apps, and free classic arcade games. This place is really cool!
Tower of Americas Happy Hour (down the street) Enjoy an amazing view with amazing drinks at an affordable price. Great way to access the Tower without paying full admission price.

Steel City Pops: Just around the corner. A wide variety of handmade popsicles that match the season.
South Alamode(in the Blue Arts complex): enjoy some delicious handmade gelato!

We hope you enjoy Southtown’s food scene as much as we do!
