Whether you are in need of quiet rest and relaxation, or are traveling with the whole family, this Mediterranean-style villa is the perfect fit for all of your needs. This Mount Helix gem provides endless opportunities for any type of traveler: you can take in the morning sun from your own private Master suite balcony, lounge by the pool, or finish the day off by preparing your evening meal in a kitchen outfitted for a professional chef.

Conveniently located just 15 minutes from downtown San Diego, beaches, the World Famous San Diego zoo, and other local attractions. The Villa has over one acre of manicured gardens, fig and lemon trees, and comfortable outdoor seating. As you sweep through the front gates, and up the long driveway, you are greeted by a beautiful rose and seasonal flower garden. The house opens on a beautiful two story foyer with grand staircase leading to the upper level of the house. Ahead, is the piano room, furnished with a baby Grand piano. A romantic night in would not be complete without the sound of soft piano music, and we would be happy to hire a professional player for you, at a fee. To the right is the parlor, complete with bar for entertaining. To the left of the entrance, there is the kitchen, complete with a Thor gas range and Subzero refrigerator, an aspiring chef's dream come true! Should work beckon while you are on vacation, there is an executive office located just by the kitchen. The dining room, also by the kitchen, conveniently seats 10-12, at its beautiful wooden table. Relax after dinner in the media room, outfitted with a 65” television, and plush sectional sofa that will fit 10 people comfortably!

Walk out through the double door to the backyard, and you will find a glorious pool, hot tub and water slide. Featuring a 16 person alfresco dining table, 40” television, and cabana with a large sectional sofa and chairs, this villa is truly a vacation, in and of itself. Poolside, there are chaise lounges, chairs, and umbrellas. Adjacent the pool, underneath the waterfall and water slide, you will find a shaded area in the cave! If you love to BBQ, there is a beautiful grill just outside. An outdoor kitchen equipped with the BBQ grill, stove, mini fridge, sink and bar make evening entertaining a breeze.

This space is a blend of modern decor and exquisite antiques, and will make you feel like you have just stepped through the front doors of your own house. The open-floor plan invites you to walk through each room to the next. It is the perfect house for the whole family, especially small children!

The five bedrooms at the Mt Helix Villa can accommodate up to ten guests. There are four bedrooms upstairs with en-suite bathrooms: the Master suite with a king bed, and the remaining bedrooms with with queen beds. The downstairs bedroom (located next the the media room) has a queen bed, and a bathroom located just next door.

Now comes the hard part, do you choose to venture out and enjoy all that San Diego has to offer? Or, will the serenity and comfort of this palatial estate just be too much to leave?

• Bedroom 1: Master: King size bed, 55” Television with large balcony overlooking mountains, blackout curtains, Spa Inspired En suite bathroom with stand-alone bathtub (jets are not working at this time), Rain Shower with multiple jets, Dual Vanity, Television & stocked mini bar with K-Cup Coffee/Tea maker.

• Bedroom 2: Queen size bed, Jack & Jill bathroom shared with bedroom 3, Shower/bathtub combo, balcony.

• Bedroom 3: Queen size bed, blackout curtains, Jack & Jill bathroom shared with bedroom 2, Shower/bathtub combo.

• Bedroom 4: Queen size bed, Desk, En suite bathroom with Shower/bathtub combo, balcony.

• Bedroom 5 (downstairs) - Queen size bed, bathroom outside bedroom in hallway, blackout curtains.

• Guest Bathroom (shower and toilet): This is located off the laundry room next to the door exiting to the patio/pool.

• Guest Bathroom (front entrance half bath): This is located to the right when coming in the front entrance next to grand staircase.

ADDITIONAL FEES/AMENITIES:

• POOL HEAT: The pool is solar heated year round and works great 80% of the time. Unfortunately when the weather is cooler/cloudy in the fall and winters months, the pool will drop 5-10 degrees at night with the low temperatures. The average pool temperature in the summer is 85 degrees (29 celsius). In the winter time the average drops to about 68-72 degrees (20-22 celsius). During cooler weather conditions, the pool heater is available for an additional $150 a day. Please check with us 2-5 days prior to your arrival and we can update you on the current pool temperature. The fee must be paid 48 hours prior to check-in as the pool heater does take 24 hours to warm the pool up 10 degrees.

• PET POLICY: Most dogs and cats are OK per approval (all pets must be approved prior to booking reservation). An additional fee of $200 per pet will be charged for pet cleaning if your pet is approved to stay in this home (deep cleaning, pet dander/hair). This is necessary as future guests may be allergic to animals. All pets should not be left in the home, or back yard unattended. If you plan to leave your dog or cat at home, they must be crated and left indoors to prevent barking and disturbing the neighbors or causing damage inside of the home.

• ADDITIONAL GUESTS: This home is set up to host 2 guests per room for a total of 10 guests at no additional charge. Any additional guests including children will be charged an additional $50 per night (including children 1 years of age and older). All additional guests need to be approved before visiting the property. The home has enough beds to sleep 10 guests. We can provide 3 additional queen air mattresses to accommodate another 6 guests, for a maximum of 16 guests total. This additional fee helps to cover the costs of additional cleaning & additional linens as well as additional wear and tear on the home.

• ADDITIONAL AIR MATTRESSES (LESS THAN 10 GUESTS ONLY): We are able to provide additional air mattresses when accommodating less than 10 guests. If you have less than 10 guests in your party and would like additional air mattresses, please let us know 48 hours prior to your arrival. There is a fee of $25 per night per air mattress.

• AIR CONDITIONING: During the warmer months, the thermostat is set to 76 during the day and 73 at night. If you would like the air conditioning run at a lower temperature, that is available a fee of $75 per day. Please notify us 48 hours prior to your arrival. This fee must be paid prior to your arrival.

• MID STAY CLEANING: This home offers mid-stay cleaning for a fee of $300 (light cleaning during your stay). Light cleaning includes new bedroom linens, bathroom towels, new pool towels, bathrooms cleaned, kitchen cleaned, common areas spruced up. If you would like a mid stay cleaning scheduled for your stay, please let us know 5 - 7 days prior to your check-in. A separate invoice from Hire 2 Host Vacation Rentals will be emailed for payment. Once this has been paid the cleaning will be added to the schedule.

ABOUT THE MT HELIX NEIGHBORHOOD:

In 1872, after a scientist discovered a European snail (Helix aspersa) living on a small mountain, Rufus King Porter, the founder of what is now unincorporated Spring Valley, California, named the peak Mt. Helix. Then in 1885, the U.S. Postal Service rejected the use of two words for a post office name, so Rufus submitted just the name Helix and also became the first postmaster in Spring Valley; the Helix Post Office was operated out of his home.

Around this same time, Hubert Howe Bancroft came to the area. He bought the Porters' ranch and also acquired neighboring properties, accumulating about 500 acres (2.0 km2). He began calling his property "Helix Farms." Bancroft hired workers to help develop Helix Farms, planting orchards and building structures for his ranch. By the early 1900s, Helix Farms was home to the largest olive ranch in southern California; some of the original olive trees can still be found today. Bancroft died in 1918, and eventually his family sold the property and it became the luxurious and prominent neighborhood it is today!
