Learn the craft of stained-glass
This one-day course will introduce you to the medieval craft of stained glass. You will choose from a selection of designs that are all achievable in a day. Your day will include tuition and materials for a panel with a simple design approx 20cm square or a rectangle 20cm x 25cm. Classes are small - one or two people - so you get a lot of individual tuition and extra help if needed. By the end of the day you will have a beautiful leaded glass panel to take home. We start at 9:30am with an introduction to the day. You will then learn the basics of glass cutting before choosing a design and selecting your glass from a range of colours and textures to make your panel unique. After you have cut the glass pieces to fit the design I teach you how to use lead and solder to join the glass pieces together. To finish your piece you will learn to cement and polish to make your panel strong and water-tight. I aim to finish the day at 5 or 6pm. There will be refreshment breaks mid-morning and mid-afternoon and a light lunch around 1pm. I am an Airbnb Superhost and can accommodate up to three guests so you can include the course in a short break. Other things to note The course is not suitable for pregnant women and nursing mothers because it involves working with lead. We try to cater for dietary requirements where possible so please let us know in advance.

We'll talk you through a variety of natural flavourings and guide you in your selection of ingredients to create your personal recipe. Our 4 wooden distillery stations fit two people, each with its own miniature copper still. As your gin drips gently through the still, there's time to relax and share a cup of something with your fellow alchemists before blending, measuring and bottling your individually crafted gin. The resulting bottle of gin will be yours to name, take home and generally show off about. Sharing is, of course, up to you. Potter's wheel one day course
The workshop starts at 10am. After introductions we'll show you how it's done by demonstrating the 5 steps to making a pot on the potter's wheel. Then it's time to 'saddle up'! (everybody has a wheel to themselves) As a group, step by step, we'll all progress together through the pot throwing process. After two or three goes together, you'll have got the hang of things. You'll then be encouraged to develop at your own pace with individual tutoring as and when required. We break for lunch around 1pm. (Please bring a packed lunch) Although we rest for an hour, you are more than welcome to take a shorter break and get back to the wheels for some untutored practice. In the afternoon there are further demonstrations after which you will work larger lumps of clay, make bigger pots and explore different shapes and forms. At the end of the workshop and once your wheel has been cleaned, you'll select your favourite two or three pieces, depending on size, to be fired and glazed. (Extra pots can be fired at cost – £6 per 250g payable on the day) The session ends at 4pm. Your creations will be shipped right to your door, arriving approx. one month later (to one address in the UK) ready to take pride of place in your home. Other things to note Although you are required to bring an apron, it's worth considering your clothing and foot-ware. There is a certain degree of splashing and splattering so dark colours are easier to wash.
